No end in sight for Maryland's traffic congestion

GasBuddy Blog --
Some states have reason for optimism when it comes to improvements in their transportation infrastructure. Some may see economic growth slowly returning or perhaps they have secured federal and state funding for long overdue highway expansions or improvements. Maryland is not one of them.

According to the Baltimore Sun, a national transportation advocacy group, TRIP, has suggested numerous projects around Maryland that would decrease traffic congestion and help with safety and economic development. Three of TRIP's top 40 projects to reduce congestion --nationwide-- are found in Maryland's Howard County and 6 of the top 20 are all in Maryland.

No. 8 on TRIP's top 10 nationwide calls for an estimated $104 million...

nstr: indeed, you need to be near mass transit routes. However, planning to build them where people need them (not nilly willy like I've seen in some cases), requires public participation. And no routes will be put out unless enough people ride in the first place.

This story is a lie.

These aren't "nationwide" projects - they are a list of Maryland's top 40 projects.

Maryland's highway infrastructure would be far better off if the political idiots from the Governor on down would stop raiding the transportation trust fund. Cut spending on useless social programs and other political pet projects.

If Maryland is such a mess, maybe we should just push them off the edge of the continent into the Atlantic Ocean. It is such a tiny piece of land, who will miss it?

I think the answer is to have a government-sponsored cull on cars and SUVs. Gun-toting horsemen should be hired to shoot vehicles on highways on sight and have them towed to the junkyard.

If more people worked from home (ie. if you have a desk job, there is no reason to drive to an office) we would not need as many roads, and the traffic would be much less.

Avoid Maryland until they fix it. (This would also help to cut down on the congestion)

Too many people in too small an area. Simple as that. Very glad that I live out here on the prairie in a smallish city. I hate going to big congested cities.
