No a simple correlation; DOE highlights really are not coupled to prices at the pump. Prices are no longer coupled to supply and demand.

sadly, DOE highlights really are not coupled to prices at the pump. Just as prices are no longer coupled to supply and demand.

Decrease in inventories? Then is it time to expect a price increase?
... Oh, wait, I keep forgetting, this is not driven by supply and demand.

nurdco, you're right about prices rising and people not liking prices rising.
It's not just fuel distributors. It's mostly speculatraitors who keep the prices artificially high.

Such statistical data is irrelevant to prices paid at the gas pumps and only helps market speculators.

When big oil ups the price of gas for a long weekend that is when people should stay at home and not buy any gas. By the time the holiday is over they would beg you to buy gas. The people can control the price of gas if they are willing to.

Gas prices moved from less than $2.30 to $2.59 yesterday. This indicates that speculators are responsible for gas price increases. Tax these assholes at 75-80% of their profits!!!!

Guess they will drop prices a small amount after the holiday weekend. Greedy people have to be greedy whenever they can but to me, this is price gouging.

I don't know what all these numbers mean. I just go off the current price of crude to know if gas will continue falling or if it will start to increase again.

Inventories have remained consistent for over a month now. Now lets get the price lowered to where it belongs. ($1.95/gal-US).

It means they control the prices through production and inventory. When there is a better alternative or hybrid, or public transportation, they loose the price control factor, and have to try to move their products. Conservation keeps your money in your pocket. Just think what would happen if we began giving up plastic first.

If gasoline production decreased last week, does this mean that gas prices are going to go up next week or what?

Still no answer to my question: Tea leaves or crystal ball?
Just further proof that we do not need a Department of Energy. Just creating statistics for their own sake. Meaningless information. Has zero effect on any price, wholesale or retail.
Close up shop and get a real job.
