kids, this past baseball season, the Pirates 3rd baseman Freddy Sanchez got a ton of write-in votes and he eventually made the team. If Rory gets wrote/written in, then he should go too.

Rory Fitzpatrick falls to 3rd in All-Star Defensemen Balloting
--
Wayne Gretzy says that the NHL should intervene and Don Cherry says on Coach's Corner that this is a "JOKE"..... thats all crap, if the fans want to write-in a player than go ahead, thats what it's there for, for the NHL to intervene as the Great One says is to basically say that if the NHL doesnt agree with who the FANS want in the game, than we can make a change, why the hell than ask the fans to vote in the first place, and for Grapes to say its a "JOKE" is basically calling the fans a joke, I like Wayne Gretzky, best Hockey Player EVER!!!!!!!! and I like Don Cherry, he's tells it like it is and he's funny, but give it a rest guys, shut up and let the fans vote for who they want! I voted for the guy about 50 times!! Otherwise leave us out of the selection process!!! Thats my rant, and its over now!!!!

GM, I know I went out on a limb before the season started and said that Sid would be the leagues leading scorer. He will end up with 100 helpers this year.

Sid and Alex are great but Alex is a pure goal scorer, i dont think he's going to make people around him better, but Sid does that, 5 helpers last night, he knows where people are and he sets them up, they score, they get better..... Look at Bernie Nicholls when Gretzky got dealt to the Kings way back, Gretzky makes the guys around him better, and so will Sid, hell, he's doing it now... NOw if Therrien would put Malkin with Sid more.... geeeeezz, that would be NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO LEAFS, GO PENS!!!!!!!!!!!!11

A couple? That move from behind the net was one of his most notorious moves. A lot of players hated it and thought it was disrespectful, but folks, that's just talent.

And now begins Crosby's domination of the NHL points race. He WILL lead in points this year, and probably next year, and the year after that. Just wait until he gets his man-strength. Crosby is the best player in hockey - and certainly the most exciting to watch.

KIDS, I really never thought about it, but you're right. Its not like basketball where they would call travelling. No doubt, Sid could do it... even better than Shremp. I'm sure in Jrs. he pulled off a couple of those goals from behind the net.

oOooPS I MEANT Schremp, I'm not big on these mid-season rules tinkering crap, it always seems like everytime somebody finds a loophole in the rules and exploit it, somebody starts bitching about it, than they gotta tinker with the rules, thats crap.... I like Brodeur, but i hope somebody makes him look like a complete fool in the shootout, I'D LOVE TO SEE A LACROSSE TYPE GOAL THOUGH... that would be something!!! HEY DICE... I think your boy Sid can do it!!!!

i LOVE THE shootout, but they gotta stop with all the restrictions man... cuz if you think about it, all the shootout is, is a breakaway, and on a breakaway you can do whatever right??? More flashy goals i say, I cant wait for Sid or Geni to try a lacrosse type shot. Cory Perry can do it, I'd love to see it!!!

kids, I kinda think that was pretty sweet. Now if Khabi came out of the net more, he would have never been able to pull off that spinarama. (Who does he think he is, Sidney?)

my4kids - Nothing wrong with the move itself. And against Savard's team too. Ouch. He did get a little close to the goalie though. I could see that as being questionable.

A little surprised by the Jackets start to the season.... and the Flames are starting to turn it around. Hope Philly keeps on stinking up the place, and the Leafs win the cup! WOOO HOOO.... 2DRILL4 - Understandable, but the forum isn't the place for it. You should have seen me watching that game at home though. I was jumping up and down, yelling, swearing. Both the missed goalie interference and the supposed hand pass at the end were ridiculous decisions. Why can't they use instant reply for that stuff?

HEY 2-D-4.... I agree totally with you.... it doesnt matter if you an Oilers fan or not, if its that blatant.... the bigger issue here is if the Oilers miss the playoffs by 1 POINT!!! and you know its possible because of the tight races these days in the NHL... as far as saying that its a disgrace to the league, I dont agree... their have been horrible calls in other sports, I think Mcgeough should be repremanded somehow and it still may happen, but its not a disgrace to the league.... Go Oilers GO... GO LEAFS GO!!!! BE COOL MAN!!!

I am spitting mad about it. A complete embarrassment. The league should fire, suspend, fine or put Mr. McGeough into some sort of protective custody. The man is a disgrace! MacT describes his performance as 'antics' - well I would use stronger language. That ref is complete idiot! The NHL needs to look into allowing a coach to have a 'challenge' of any call. One per game or per period it should be any call or missed call. Watching the game last night on TV and seeing multiple angles of replays showing that the call was blown was VERY frustrating! The announcers reminded the viewers that it was not a reviewable call. For the first time in recent memory the refery actually admitting to screwing up the call! Well, why didn't he change the call on the goal. The Dallas goalie said that he stopped reacting to the shot after the whistle was blown - I call BS on that too. Not one player stopped on the play until the puck was in the net. Why did McNugget who was 50 ft from the faceoff making the call? The lineman that drops the puck has the ability and the responsibilityy to call an unfair draw - he is the one that should have blown the whistle and dropped the puck from the same time onward. To make matters worse was the non-call on Dallas' first goal. Big Eric ran into Rolloson in crese knocking his stick out of his hands - and the refs should have seen that from anywhere on the ice!

I admit that I am an Oilers fan and in the past I have enjoyed bad calls that have gone the Oilers way and been upset at bad calls or penalties that have hurt the Oilers in a game. This, I think, is a natural reaction of a fan. Those two calls are the two worst calls I have seen in my life. In 30 years of watching hockey I have not seen it cost a game so blatantly. I watched with a Dallas fan and even he was upset. He said that he wanted his team to control the game and win it fairly. He was also sure that Dallas would take two points if it went to a shootout. LOL Well, the league looks disgraceful. I think there will be a better reffering job tonight in some beer league in Houston where the ref may make $30 tonight. If I was the director of officiating I would apologize to the Oilers and keep McNugget in the Eastern conference for the rest of the year if he has to work the league at all.

MOD EDIT: Removed swear.

Chicago had a chance, injuries ruined that chance. Buffalo looks like the team to beat. Can't really call who's gonna get how far yet. Look at Calgary and Ottawa are both of to crap starts but still could win a spot no problem. Statistics don't predict sports :)

Chicago will have to endure too many injuries this season. Havlat will be back, but their injury list is very long.

As much as I like Edmonton, two years in a row may be too much to ask. I was born there - so naturally the Oilers have a place in my heart, but I'm going to have to go with the big guns from the West this year in San Jose and Anaheim. My wildcard from the West would be Nashville.

Buffalo seems invincible and Atlanta is playing really well. But I really like Pittsburgh this year. Such a brilliant young team. If not this year, then next.

Hell Yeah.... OK maybe not Chicago, that was my really really really dark horse pick, maybe more like Minnesota, but still, my point is anybody can take the favorite, its easy.... but looks who's been winning the cup lately... was Carolina and Edmonton on anybody's radar screen at the start of '05-'06, or Tbay and Calgary b4 that??? I sure as hell know I didnt, all i'm hearing is Buffalo or Anaheim are going to win the Cup.... its a marathon not a sprint.... and the playoffs are a whole different game... just look at the St. Louis Cardinals, World Series Champs.... Early season favorites are one thing, but lets not give the cup to anybody just yet, all it takes is one nice losing streak for a hot team and everybody jumps off the bandwagon.... besides.... the Leafs are going to win the Cup anyways so I dont know what you people are talking about!!!! Be Cool All!!!

Why does everybody always pick the favorites, you guys are probably the same people that picked Detroit and Ottawa in the finals last year, you cant start eliminating teams already, anybody pick the Oilers to go to the final last year. c'mon, go out on a limb... Pittsburgh is a good pick.... I'm going to say Nashville or Chicago in the west, and Pittsburgh or the Leafs in the east... season ya in April when I'm gloating!!!! GO LEAFS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's my picks for possible Stanley Cup contenders:

From the West will be either Anaheim or San Jose, and from the East, Buffalo, and my wildcard pick - Pittsburgh.
