Would be nice, but people will keep buying gas no matter what the cost. So they will keep sticking it in us.

I'm gonna drive and fuel my TDI diesel. It gets 50mpg at 70mph. Ya gotta be smart and plan for these prices.

My response is: The oil industry will be hurt because they would be laughing so hard at the peoples attempt at hurting them by not driving or buying gas. They will laugh so hard their belly will hurt and they will not be able to catch their breath and at that point they will start coughing so hard they choke on their own vomit.
Oh, and they will pee themselves.

WE would all have to agree to plan ahead of time if this will work. Other than that I say boycott a certain brand. Me personally I boycott Chevron (Where I live they are the highest) Then I boycott Shell (They ar just a couple pennies under chevron)

Sorry ELAR, third Saturday in October is always the Alabama-Tenessee game. Anytime during football season just will not work. You have to realize we have 85,000 fans just for the spring A-Day game.

But good luck trying to get anything organized...you couldn't get a dozen people to go along with such a hairball idea if 10 of them were family members.

waste of time , pretty much the best thing to do is buy SOOO LITTLE gas that if everyone did just THAT ,we would allow them to export it all to Europe and the rest of the world so it keeps our prices thru the roof and the economy crumbles and then gas prices GO DOWN
anyways , cause and effect

It helps to encourage Costco who inevitably have the lowest prices, they influence all the other stations in their vicinity to grop prices.

Best thing you can do for yourself is to manage your driving to include all your errands in one trip, carpool or share rides when you can. It is not always possible, but there is a lot you can do to help yourself. We have been doing this for some time now and it does help with gas. The biggest problem is the prices are not just at the pump, it goes into cost of food, clothing and everything else needed in life.

If you really want to fight back then invest in the oil and energy companies such as: Chevron, ConocoPhillips and Hess Corp (currently the Big Dog in North Dakota drilling)...every one of those companies share value rose three or more percent just in the past week and they all pay nice annual dividends.
Also Invest in the Industry which supports the Oil Companies such as National Oil Well VARCO INC (largest Derick pipe and fittings supplier in the US), Halliburton, SeaDrill LTD (largest Drilling Company in the North Sea off the coast of Norway and paying a 10% dividend) and Tortoise Pipeline & Energy Corp.
Rather than simply sitting back and whine and fret over the rising price, take advantage of it and make something positive happen from it...you either work for your money or you let your money work for you and I'll choose the latter any day!

Do you really think that big oil only produces gas?
1. It wouldn't hurt them one bit because they are deversified into many products.
2. It would take a long boycott, against many products to hurt big oil and they would just export their product someplace else.
3. Who stayed home September 11, 12 and 13th 10 years ago. I sure didn't, I had to work every day and buy gas.
4. Maybe a class in economics would help you understand how things work.

ELAR has not been back since creating this call to action over a month ago. Perhaps he realized that boycotts do not work. But with only 5 posts and 5450 points since joining I am not going to hold my breath waiting for his return.

I was looking for Gas_Buddy on this thread, you shouldn't use upper case, he would suggest that amd I notice you posted in the wrong forum, it should be under Boycott/Gasout Talk, I have made a report to move it.

Why are you continuously yelling? When are you going to understand that boycotts DO NOT WORK? If you don't buy gas today or tomorrow then you will have to buy it the next day.

Boycotts do not work. ELAR this topic does not belong here but rather in the Boycott catagory.

First, and it's just a suggestion, you might want to not type entirely in upper case; it's as if you're shouting.
Second, three days during which no one buys gas. No one buys gas, or no one uses gas? If you're suggesting that no one buys gas on the three days you choose, are you suggesting that people fill up the day before the "don't buy" period? I mean so they don't run out of gas. You're not suggesting people stop driving for those three days, and not use gas, are you?
But if I get this correct, you're trying to compare your don't buy with, in your words, "BASICALLY 10 YEARS AGO" when everything came to a halt because of terrorist attacks and uncertainty, when many businesses and institutions came to a complete halt or shutdown? Is that what you're suggesting should happen, everything simply stops? You realize, however, I'm sure, that gas prices didn't go down until December that year, more than three months later.
But you're sure that not buying gas - not not using gas, but not buying gas for three days - will get people to KICK THE PUMP HABIT? And, and it's just a question, don't you think that posting gas prices once in a while, especially as a long time member, that it might help your fellow Pennsylvanians be more knowledgeable shoppers in case any of them have to buy gas on the three days of your suggested "NOBODY BUYS GAS" period? Or, for that matter, all the time? Just a question; that's all. Just a question.
