I'm an Osceola County resident. I went to mom's for Christmas yesterday - she lives by the airport. I stopped for gas at Suncoast Energy by the Airport (next to Cracker Barrel). I didn't see any price signs but figured the price would be about the same as the other gas stations I passed. I began fueling and after a couple of minutes, looked up and was shocked to see that I was up to $41.00 already. I stopped fueling immediately and looked for the price and noticed $4.59 per gallon. Thinking the pump must be broken, I checked out the other pumps and sure enough, the price was a criminal $4.59 per gallon. I was mad all day at the intentional fraud on the part of this owner. I stopped back by the station on my way home and went up to every other unsuspecting customer at the pump and asked if they knew they were paying double at this station. They were all shocked and got back in their car and headed for the station a quarter mile down the road. They were all extremely grateful that the fraud had been pointed out before they were robbed. Once the "nice people" inside figured out what I was doing, I was, of course, asked to leave the premises, which I did (after I mentioned they had stolen my $41.00, but it cost them about $300 in business). I encourage each and every one who reads this to do the same and tell everyone they know to do the same. Drive by, pull in and enlighten the customers at the pump. When you're asked to leave, you must, but even sparing one person of the fraud is worth it. Also, file complaints with every agency possible and perhaps the gas station down the road can be persuaded to purchase a billboard advertising that consumers should pass that station by and not be duped. Come on people - let's figure out a way.

Where there exists rare competition - pump price deviates from signage.
Checking pump price beforehand is well-advised.

A sucker is born every minute. You should ALWAYS look at the pump, before you squeeze the trigger. Even if they have big signs posted, you should look at the pump first.

The price is never posted on a sign, where I buy diesel. I always look at the pump first. One night, I looked at the pump price and it was rather cheap, compared to the competition. I swipped my card the the pump price went up. WTF. I looked at all of the other pumps and they all had the same price, of what mine was now showing. Turns out that the Fire Department (across the street) had filled up, just before I got there. The pump was reflecting the no tax price that they pay.

Many people don't know that it is a crime for them to post a low price on the sign and charge more at the pump. When increasing the price, they must do so at the sign and then the pump. When decreasing the price, they must decrease at the pump and then the sign.

Glad I don't have Suncoast in my area, but will keep it in mind when I vacation in Orlando.

A service station near the Orlando Airport (MCO) does not constitute big oil, OPEC etc. The station is near the car rental returns at the airport and they take advantage of that when people rush in to fill before returning the rental. Look before you fill, its as simple as that.

There's too many gouging us, not to mention that we're all getting gouged by Big Oil, OPEC, the refiners and distributors as well.

zedcon is a sucker... your fault for not reading the price before you put the pump into your gas tank

pt barnum's famous quote will be always valid ...it seems there's a sucker born every minute

it's a law here in NJ to have posted prices easily visible to the consumer so i won't get robbed in that manner...

happy new year & as long as you learned from your mistake, it'll be a brighter future

Nanook, I agree the price is absurd, but it is not "criminal". No one is forcing people to buy from them. If the price is real (I have doubts, as I listed in my earlier post), the station will not stay in business. We have choices as consumers, and business owners also have choices.
Criminal is forcing someone to buy a product or service at the point of a gun- say, what the Congress is doing with health insurance.

Most stations near airports have higher prices because of the rental cars that are being returned to the airport. But this station's price is criminal.

With no clear signage & the station located near an airport - best to drive a little further.

How did they steal your $41.00?
How is this fraud?
Is this going to be your only post?

Up until this time were your eyes closed?

This station, and others, around MCO have had high gas prices for many years.

1. Who in their right mind just starts pumping gas without looking at the price (which is right in your face as you put your credit card into the reader)?
2. How likely is it that four or five other patrons would fail to notice the price at the same time, so their hero could save them from the evil gas company?
3. Who decides to gas up at an airport, which are well known for high prices because of rental returns? (Aside: those stations need higher prices to stay alive, as the typical airline passenger is not going to buy convenience store items, the bread-and-butter of station survival in 2009).

Just someone with an agenda, I suppose.

Suncoast, a pipeline and storage company, an oil and natural gas producer, an investment company, has a service station?
