New Posting Guidelines!

Posting Addresses with Prices:

To ensure that station addresses will be mappable in both the websites AND mobile applications, we respectfully request you please provide a combo of both the exact address and the cross street when listing station addresses. If no cross street is available, please use the exact address and provide the nearest cross street. Also, we prefer street names to interstates and routes.

[example]
123 Main St & Cross St

OR

[example]
123 Main St Near Cross St

If you've provided the exact address and cross street/nearest cross street, and the station still isn't mapping, there's a possibility it may not be entered into the Master Station List yet. In these sitations, use the tools available in the MSL to see if the station is listed (senior users only, 10 000+ points with a car icon), or ask a senior member to check for you.

Senior Users (10 000+ points with a car icon): When adding a station into the station database, alternative street names can be included in the Master Station List and can be added in their appropriate fields (these of which are not visible on the site with price reports, but are handy to have in the database to avoid duplicate listings). If there is an alternative street name, please include this with your station submissions. ie. If Main St is also known as US-1, please enter the Address as 123 Main St, with US-1 in the Alternate Name for Street field.

Though exits may be a definable landmark when it comes to giving directions, these are often not recognized by mapping applications as locations with geocodes. With this in mind, please do not include exits as station addresses, feel free to include them in the comments field of your reporting ie. Shell, 123 Main St & Cross St (Exit 49A)

=====

Posting Highways, please use this format:

I-**
US-**
AL-**

=====

Posting Station Names:

Please list stations by the name they are known locally. Alternative station names can be included in the Comments field when reporting prices, but this is not required.

We ask that stations be listed by their most recognizable name. For example, when someone sees the station for the first time, what is the name they will be looking for?

For example, if there is a station in your area known as "Bob's Auto" that happens to sell CITGO fuel, but the station doesn't prominently display the brand of fuel, just list the station name as "Bob's Auto".

Also, we ask that station names not be "personalized", as in "Love's Store # 234" or "Dave's Sunoco". In these cases, please just use "Love's" and "Sunoco", respectively.

Alternative station names can still be listed in the Comments field. For example.

Price: 3.50
Station: Sunoco
Address: 123 Main St & Cross Ave
Comments: Dave's Sunoco

Comments display in parentheses after station address, in the price lists. Like this:

3.50
Sunoco
123 Main St & Cross Ave (Dave's Sunoco)

=====

Posting Member Prices or Discounts:

Please post the price before discount because not everyone, especially visitors to the area are eligible for the discounts. You can still provide the information, but please enter the information in the Comments field which will appear within () in the address line, like this:

[example]
2.29 Safeway
123 Main St & Cross St (-5 cents with card)

The REGULAR PRICE is listed, and the discount information is in the address line for those eligible. Members using the discount will have to do their own math, and anything within () in the address line is ignored by the duplicate checker, and does not affect the system or mapping.

Member prices can be posted if no non-member price is available. However, you should state whether or not it's a member price, and add this in the Comments field which will appear within () in the address line, like this:

[example]
Sam's Club
123 Main St & Cross St (member price)

If there is a discount offered at the pump, but the sign price is higher, please post the price listed on the sign, and add the pump price in the Comments field.

=====

Posting Cash/Credit Prices.

Differences in cash/credit prices are common in some areas as a result of stations needing to offset the additional costs of credit/debit transactions.

When reporting prices for stations in areas that have different prices based on method of payment, we ask that you post the cash price where it exists. Because GasBuddy is intended to help our users find the lowest prices, in areas where cash/credit prices are applicable, ultimately the cash price is the lowest price. If the station does not offer a cash price, then the standard price should be reported.

The Comments field may be used to include a note about cash/credit prices, but this is not required.

[example]
3.50
Valero
123 Main St & Cross St (credit +5c)

=====

Font Casing:

We ask that you capitalize only the first letter of each word, unless it's a highway, like "US-2". The system is not currently smart enough to see "main st" and "Main St" as the same thing. The same applies to station names. Any difference can cause duplicate listings of the same station.

*****The Comments field should ONLY be used for additional directional info, alternative store names, or discount information only. If you wish to discuss gas prices, please use the forums. Abusing the comments field may result in an account suspension.

I visited a couple of stations listed over the past couple of weeks and the prices did not reflect what was on the website. I even called a few. This is disappointing because I am trusting the users of this site to be truthful. This is not a joke! I use this website to purchase about 100 gallons of diesel a week! big expense.

If I find a station that's not on the drop-down list, how do I enter it?

Seems to me the Cash price would be the price to use... Since that is the actual price before the additional fee added for credit.

I would also say that the for stations with car washes... The normal price without the car wash would be the price to use. And without saying anything llike (10cents discount with car wash). By adding that statement it is confusing as to whether the price you stated is the car wash price or not.

Hi! I am new to this forum. I have two questions. When posting rates, do we post the rates for cash or for credit (because many stations have different rates for cash and credit!)?
Secondly, is there a discussion area for the quality of fuels provided by these gas stations, including discussion on additives?
